Unlocking the Power of Multi-Stakeholder Guidance: The CGC DigiTrans Curriculum

In a rapidly transforming world of work, career guidance and counseling (CGC) professionals face a dual challenge: supporting individuals in navigating increasingly complex career paths while responding to structural shifts like digital transformation and lifelong learning demands. The CGC DigiTrans Curriculum addresses these challenges with a forward-thinking approach grounded in real-world practice.

Developed as part of the Erasmus+ project “CGC DigiTrans,” the curriculum supports the implementation of the Roundabout Method – a multi-stakeholder guidance approach that strengthens collaboration between counselors, educational providers, employers, and other relevant actors. This method aims to improve the outcomes of counseling processes by making them more strategic, holistic, and responsive to labor market dynamics.

Who is it for?

The curriculum is primarily designed for higher education institutions that offer study programs preparing students for a career in educational and career guidance. However, it is also relevant for training providers in continuing education who want to strengthen the strategic counseling skills of existing professionals. The material is suitable for both initial and further education of guidance practitioners and has been tested and refined in international pilot trainings.

What’s inside?

The CGC DigiTrans Curriculum is built around four interlinked units, covering:

  1. Understanding digital transformation and its implications for guidance.
  2. Learning the Roundabout Method in theory and practice.
  3. Applying the method in complex, real-world guidance scenarios.
  4. Reflecting and planning for implementation in one’s own professional context.

Each unit includes specific learning outcomes and is structured around active methods such as casework, collaborative reflection, mapping exercises, and guided analysis. The curriculum materials are outcome-oriented and learner-centered, supporting trainers and learners alike in achieving concrete, applicable results.

From framework to action

The curriculum is not just a collection of ideas but a fully operational toolkit. It includes session plans with step-by-step instructions, ready-to-use slides (PowerPoints), case examples from pilot projects, and a collection of worksheets and handouts. The materials are designed to be used in both face-to-face and online formats, making it easy to adapt to local needs and conditions.

One of the curriculum’s key innovations is its structured yet flexible approach: while the learning journey follows a clear didactic logic, it also allows for customization depending on the learners’ backgrounds and the institutional setting. Each activity is linked to defined learning outcomes, supporting both transparency and quality in implementation.
A bridge between research and practice

By linking current debates in CGC with concrete practitioner tools, the DigiTrans Curriculum contributes to the professionalization of the field. It reflects the project’s broader goal: supporting guidance actors in navigating digital transformation by developing the right competencies, methods, and partnerships. The curriculum empowers CGC professionals to take on a more strategic role, facilitating collaborative guidance processes that create added value for all stakeholders involved.
